British swimmers added two golds for a total of four, after three days of competition at the Universiade, breaststroke James Gibson and Rebecca Cooke won golds for the Brits today.

China continues to lead with 11 (4-6-1) total medals and GBR with 6 (4-2-0) totals is in second spot.

A new Games record for James Gibson (GBR) with his 1:00.71 in winning thr 100 breaststroke with Chris Cook (GBR) in second in 1:01.28. Gibson won the bronze at the Worlds in this event and the gold in the 50 breast last month.

Takahiro Mori (JPN) bettered another Games record in winning thr 200 IM in 2:00.59, bettering a 20-year-old record of 2:02.29 by Alex Baumann (CAN) from 1983.

Rebecca Cooke (GBR) won the 400 freestyle in 4:11.23, her second individual gold as she was first in the 800 free. She was second for the first 250 to Hua Chen (CHN) but she finished faster to win by just under a body length.

Co-world record holder Hui Qi (CN) and Xuejuan Luo (CHN) battled for top spot in the women's 200 breaststroke with Qi winning in 2:26.25 and Luo second in 2:26.99.

China won the women's 4x200 free in 8:05.66, with the USA trailing throughout to finish second in 8:08.84.

The Games swimming events continue on August 28 with tomorrow a day of rest.
