Fernando Scherer,(BRA) won his third consecutive Pan Am 50 freestyle title with 22.40, with Jose Martin Meolans, (ARG) second in 22.42 and Gary Hall (USA) third with 22.43.
Scherer won in 1995 and 1999, with Meolans second also in 1999.
Peter Marshall (USA) won the 100 backstroke in 55.52, with George Bovell (TRI) in second.
Michael Raab (USA) bettered the Pan Am Games record for the second time with his 200 fly winning time of 1:57.33.
In the women's 800 freestyle Morgan Hentzen (USA) caught Rachel Burke (USA) at the 500 mark to move into the lead touching in 8:36.54 to 8:37.61. Kristel Kobrich (CHI) was third in 8:43.90 for their first ever Pan Am swimming medal.
Joanne Malar (CAN) won her third consecutive 200 IM Pan Am title in 2:15.93, with Corrie Clark (USA) in second 2:16.78, and Laura Davis (USA) third in 2:17.33.
Malar first won this event in 1955 in 2:15.66, and posted the Games record in 1999 with her 2:14.18.
The United States won the omen's 4x100 medley in a Games Record of 4:05.92, Canada in second in 4:13.72 and Mexico third in 4:18.04, for their first swimming medal in Santo Domingo.
The USA reached 37 medals (18-14-5) with one day remaining, the same total they had in 1999.
